Our Story
The Engine Block was founded and is run by Jeff — a Danville native with over two decades of hands-on experience across the area's specialty shops. He's not just a mechanic. He's a car guy who built this shop around two things: doing the work right and being straight with people about it.
Whether you're rolling in for an oil change or talking through a bigger project, the same approach applies: clear communication, fair pricing, and no run-around. All makes and models, no exceptions. We back every repair with a 90-day labor warranty, and if your schedule doesn't allow for daytime drop-off, the key box is out front.
What We Do
From the routine to the involved — we handle it, and we'll always walk you through what we're doing and why before we touch the car.
Oil changes, tire rotations, filter swaps, fluid checks — all the regular maintenance that keeps a vehicle running the way it should.
Check engine lights, drivability issues, electrical gremlins. We run the codes and dig into what's actually happening before we start recommending repairs.
Tune-ups, engine repairs, and full swaps. Transmission service and replacement. We handle the heavy stuff without sending you somewhere else.
Brake pad and rotor replacement, calipers, suspension components, shocks and struts. Safety work done right and at a fair price.
A/C diagnosis, recharge, and repair. If your cabin isn't cooling the way it should, we'll find the cause and fix it.
Virginia state vehicle inspections. Walk-ins welcome — we'll get you checked out and back on the road.

Introducing
Most of what we do here is everyday work — oil changes, brakes, diagnostics. But Jeff has always been an enthusiast, and over the years a certain kind of customer has found their way in: someone with a project car, a swap idea, a build that's been living in their head. The Forge is how we make room for that work.
This isn't a massive performance division. It's a dedicated lane for customers who want to do something more with their car and need a shop they can actually talk to about it. Start a conversation. We'll be honest about what's feasible.

A classic Cheyenne brought down the right way — C-notched and lowered for a proper stance without sacrificing the character of the truck. Old iron done right.

Full bolt-on setup plus built internals — rods, pistons, valves — and an upgraded turbo with a Mishimoto intercooler. One of the more thorough builds to come through The Forge.

We're on Riverside Drive, Monday through Friday. Call ahead if you're coming in for something specific — we're usually booked up and want to make sure we can give your car the time it deserves.
