A Dedicated Lane
for Project Cars.

Most of The Engine Block's day-to-day work is repair and maintenance. The Forge is the dedicated path for performance work: swap ideas, turbo plans, suspension upgrades, and project cars that need to be built in stages.

Based in Danville, Virginia, we work with enthusiasts from Pittsylvania County, across Southside Virginia, and nearby North Carolina. Project work is scheduled carefully, separate from the regular repair queue, so there is time to plan it correctly.

Start with a conversation. We'll tell you what's feasible, what should happen first, and what parts make sense before you spend money.

Performance Work
We Take On.

Engine Builds, LS Conversions & Swaps

Engine and transmission swaps, including LS conversions and Honda projects. We handle engine tear-down and internal assembly when a performance build calls for it. Rebuild scope starts with the condition of the engine, intended use and parts plan; any machine-shop operations are handled outside the shop. Talk to us before ordering parts.

Turbo & Forced Induction

Turbo installation, supercharger installation, and other forced-induction projects, including the supporting fuel and cooling upgrades the setup may require. We can help plan a bolt-on system or a larger staged build before parts are purchased.

Suspension & Handling

Coilovers, sway bars, suspension upgrades and chassis work for the way you drive. Discuss setup needs with us first; current alignment work uses a plate system, and we do not have a dedicated alignment machine.

Project Car Builds

Long-term project cars often happen in stages. We can help map the order of work, identify what should be done together, and schedule each phase around the car, budget, and end goal.

The Work
Speaks for Itself.

Real projects from The Engine Block, spanning Honda and Acura performance work, domestic builds, and other import platforms. Move through the project index to see the work and the different levels a build can take.

No Surprises.
Just a Straight Process.

Every build starts with a conversation

01

The Conversation

Fill out the form below or call the shop. Tell us about the car, the goal, and where you are in the process. We'll be honest about what's feasible — and what it'll take.

02

Plan & Parts

We map the scope, parts, budget, and timeline together. Bring your current parts list — or talk to us first so you can choose the right parts the first time.

03

The Build

Larger jobs are scheduled in advance. We'll set a realistic timeline before the car comes in rather than rush project work through the regular repair schedule.

Good to Know.

Straight answers on the things worth knowing before a project gets scheduled.

Machine work goes out

Internal engine assembly is done here. Engine machining is not performed in-house, so any machining a build needs is handled outside the shop and planned into the job from the start.

No dyno tuning here

We do not currently offer dyno tuning. If a build needs a tune to finish correctly, we will tell you that up front so it can be planned as part of the project.

Timelines depend on the build

Project timing varies with scope, parts availability, and any outside work the build depends on. We set a realistic schedule with you before the car comes in.

Warranty is per project

Ask about parts and labor coverage for your specific project before work begins. Modified vehicles, customer-supplied parts and the scope of the job can affect what coverage is available; there is no blanket 90-day warranty.

Tell Us About
Your Project.

The more context you give us, the better the first conversation will be. No commitment — this just gets the ball rolling. Coming from outside Danville? Start here so we can talk through the project before you make the trip.

The Forge intake is for performance upgrades, engine or transmission swaps, turbo and forced-induction work, suspension projects, internal engine assembly, and staged project vehicles.
